Bethel Presbyterian Church partners with The Urban Ministry of Charlotte every winter in opening our doors to provide overnight shelter and food to homeless men, women, and children of our community. Every Saturday night Bethel offers a warm place to sleep, provides a homemade dinner, and returns guests the following morning to uptown Charlotte after being served a hardy breakfast. Each guest is also given a bag lunch. The program is a unique way to provide much needed shelter to our homeless neighbors. It allows Bethel volunteers to form interpersonal relationships with people who are destitute and emphasizes the enormity of the homelessness issue right in our community. Bethel volunteers are needed to help coordinate the program, provide meals, provide transportation, and help set-up and clean-up.
